Here are some very well written notes on the subject Electromagnetics which were compiled by my friend Raviraj during his GATE coaching at Made Easy Institute. These notes for EC Electronics and Communication engineering are all hand written and will give you an overview of the syllabus as well as the key topics that need to be studies on the subject - Electromagnetics.

My advice would be to read these notes at least once and refer to these along with your other GATE notes and study material for Electromagnetics.

List of key topics in this Electromagnetics GATE notes from Made Easy GATE Coaching for Electronics Engg. (EC):
  • Electrostatics
  • Maxwell’s equations: differential and integral forms and their interpretation, boundary conditions, wave equation, Poynting vector
  • Plane waves and properties: reflection and refraction, polarization, phase and group velocity, propagation through various media, skin depth
  • Transmission lines: equations, characteristic impedance, impedance matching, impedance transformation, S-parameters, Smith chart
  • Waveguides: modes, boundary conditions, cut-off frequencies, dispersion relations
  • Antennas: antenna types, radiation pattern, gain and directivity, return loss, antenna arrays
  • Basics of radar
  • Light propagation in optical fibers
