The IIT-JEE used to be conducted by the IITs was an annual engineering entrance examination for admission to the IITs and several other affiliated colleges like ISM Dhanbad, IT-BHU (now IIT BHU) etc. Since 2013, this examination has been replaced by the two phased Joint Entrance Examination.
The JEE is divided into two phases, JEE Mains (for admissions to NITs, IIITs and other private colleges) and JEE advanced (for admissions to IITs and several other affiliated colleges).
